MacOS Active Directory Domain join error

Problem:

"Unable to add server. node name wasn't found (2000)" Error while joining Mac OS to windows active directory domain. 

Error Message

Solution:

This error occurs when there is a time difference between MacOS clock and AD domain controller. 
To fix this issue need to adjust the MacBook time from apple time server or manually adjust time to sync with AD domain controller. 

Step 1: 

On your Mac click on the Apple icon on the top left corner, select "System Preference"


Step2:

Select Date & Time from System Preferences. Click on lock icon on the left corner of the window ( Click the lock to make change) 

This will prompt for your password. 


Enter your password and press unlock

Step 3:

Click on "Time Zone" tab and make sure you select the correct time zone by selecting the location from the map or closest city from drop down list. 




Step 4:

Now go back to Date & time next to the Time zone and adjust time manually. 



Step 5:

Now you should be able to join your Mac to Active directory domain without any issues.
