What is HP UNIX

HP UNIX (HP-UX)
HP-UX is Hewlett-Packard's proprietary UNIX Operating System. It runs HP 9000 PA-RISC and Integrity (ITANIUM) based systems.HP-UX is first unix to use ACL(Access Control List) for file access permissions other than standard unix file permissions.Built-in Logical Volume Manger (LVM) with VxFS file system.
First HP-UX version(HP-UX 1.0) released in 1984, Current version is 11iv3 released in 2007.

HP-UX 11i v3 supports upto :-

  • 128 processor cores
  • 2 TB of main memory
  • 32 TB maximum Filesystem
  • 16 TB maximum File size
  • 100 million ZB of MAX Storage
